On Sex
and Gender
In the
Ercian religion, Truth is the Supreme Value and truth is based on facts
according to objective reality not subjective feelings. In addition, for communications
to be efficient and effective in a society, language must have rules so that
words mean the same to most or a majority of the members of a population.
For example,
we would not want people to call objects by the name they prefer. A horse is
different from a car, and a car is different from a house. One cannot call a
car a horse or vice versa. One cannot call a house a car or a horse or vice
versa. Ergo, objectivity determines the names we give to things.
In terms of
sex, most humans are born male or female, with hermaphrodites being the rare
exception.
In terms of gender, there is the
masculine gender and the feminine gender.
The trans
movement has brought about a bastardization of the English language with the
use of pronouns. There is a difference between a biological female and a male
who wishes to transition and adopt a feminine role. Clearly, they are two
different persons, and the same pronoun must not be used for both because it
is not the truth.
The traditional feminine pronouns
should be used exclusively for biological females, for natural women
that is. Use “she” as the subject pronoun, and then “her/hers/herself” for the rest.
For biological males who transition into a female role use “heshe”
for the subject pronoun and the neutral forms “ert/erts/ertself” for the
rest. The use of neutral pronouns is necessary to avoid the cumbersome
combinations of “himher” “hishers” or “himselfherself.”
I cannot say I am being true to objective reality if I refer to a
male that transitions into a female role as a “she.” That is a lie. It is not
the objective truth, and our culture should not force me to call “ert” that.
My
wife is a “she.” Marilyn Monroe was a “she.” The Queen of England is a “she.” A
male who transitions into a female role is not a “she.” That person is a “heshe,”
and I would have no problem calling “ert” that because it conforms with the
truth.
This person was born a “he,” and then he decided to transition into a “she”
role. Therefore, this person is and should be referred to as a “heshe.” That is
the objective truth, defining first original sex and gender and proceeding with
the person’s desired sex and gender.
The traditional masculine pronouns
should be used exclusively for biological males, for natural men that is.
Use “he” as the subject pronoun, and then “him/his/himself” for the rest.
For biological females who transition into a male role use “shehe”
for the subject pronoun and the neutral forms “ert/erts/ertself” for the
rest. The use of neutral pronouns is necessary to avoid the cumbersome
combinations of “herhim” “hershis” or “herselfhimself.”
Persons whose destiny was to be born hermaphrodite can choose
the terms that best fit their situation.
In case it needs clarification, the name I gave our personal God
is “Ellael,” Spanish for “Shehe,” but I did not choose that name because I
believe our personal God is Trans, a Being with a determined sex or gender. I
chose that name so that it reflects the duality of things in life (male and
female, good and evil. positive and negative, black and white, etc.). Our personal
God Ellael is a mystery which I hope to become acquainted with when I die.
It is not up to me to know why trans people feel the way they do
or to determine whether their feelings have a factual psychological basis or,
for some, the product of just a wish to be popular and different from others.
Trans
individuals are part of society and deserve the same civil and human rights as
any other person, but not any civil or human rights over and above the rest of
the population. “It is not all about you,” as Bill Maher said. Most definitely,
it is not up to the trans community or to the politicians and corporations that
cater to this group to prescribe changes in our language that make communications
untruthful and ineffective.
